Humble Yourself

phillipians 2:3 do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. ➾ throughout our lives we have all heard the phrase "every man for himself". that is my least favorite phrase I know of. sixteen year old Nelson Fonangwon, risked his own life to save the toddler next door from burning in a house fire. he jumped at the first scream he heard..he could've just slept through it and pretended nothing was wrong.. but he states "I knew I had to do something". in a figurative or literal point, we all need to live as a rescuer would; ready to jump at the first mutter of anguish. on the figurative side of that, remember that a smile can be someone's saving grace. it doesn't have to be some miraculous jump out of a building rescue..it may just be you rescued someone who may have not seen a smile in a long time, who desperately needed to see God through someone. many times it seems too hard to want to help or put effort into something other than ourselves. there is a book by Debbie Macomber (probably just butchered her name) that talks about heaven having unopened presents for everyone. these unopened presents symbolize opportunities that we never took a chance on, people we didn't take the time to know, or the live we didn't choose to live. if we live accordingly to Christ and let him take the lead, there is no telling what our lives may hold in store. if we pass up opportunities to let Gods light shine through us, we might pass up more than just an opportunity. Nelson Fonagwon is one example of putting others before him selves, he could have died in the house fire but he put all of the fear behind him and let God take control of the situation. God says "If I am with you, you have nothing to fear". strive to live with an open heart and an open mind and remember that God has your back, no matter the circumstances. live humbly and consider the humility of others before yourself, in the long run you will be much happier.
